My Leg Massage Hacks

Whether you’ve been on your feet all day at work or have done more squats than you can count at the gym, our legs can feel like they’re always in a bit of pain. A leg massage is what you need, but where to start? We’ve got you covered with our leg massage hacks. These are some great tips to help with lower body soreness, so have a look and try them for yourself!

Why Leg Massage?

It’s not only the leg muscles rubbed directly that feel the positive effect, the whole body gets a boost. There’s all sorts of reflex points connected to the entire body, mainly located in the feet, and these points stimulate the body when touched. Foot massage in particular improves circulation, lowers blood pressure and helps to prevent foot and ankle injuries.

Hacks

Thighs

You’ll want to get started at the top and work your way down. That means kicking things off with the thighs. This is the meatiest part of the leg, which means you can be a bit more firm while you massage. So take your hands and firmly grip the inner and outer thigh, and while¬†lightly squeezing them make a circular motion with your thumb. Now do this going up and down the thigh. You can also use the drumming technique by using the side of your hand to gently chop up and down your leg.

Calves

The best way to massage the calf is¬†through petrissage. In layman’s terms this is squeezing and releasing, do this up and down the length of the calf to knead out all that soreness.

Feet

This is the icing on the cake for a leg massage. Although they’re small, there’s plenty to be done with the feet. Start by placing one hand on the ankle and one on the toes, then rotate, first one way then the other. Then gently pull each toe one by one, before pulling them all at once. Finally use the base of your fingers to massage the pads, and your thumbs to massage the balls of the feet. Bliss.
